There is a longstanding tradition in black and white photography of documenting cities in response to urban transformation. Eugene Atget captured the streets and architecture of Paris prior to the modernization of the late 1800s. Berenice Abbott meticulously photographed 19th-century buildings in New York City before they were demolished to make way for skyscrapers. Drawing inspiration from these projects, my collection of photographs aims to document Brooklyn's architecture before its radical reshaping in the early 21st century.
